    Fofana, who spent the last season on two different loan spells at Union Berlin and Burnley, failed to secure a move away from Stamford Bridge in the recently concluded summer transfer window. The player was earlier added to Chelsea's bomb squad which meant he was kept away from their first-team activities.

    The Blues outcast was close to a loan move to AEK Athens, which included a £20 million buy option next summer. However, Fabrizio Romano now reports that the deal could collapse at the last moment as the English club disagree on multiple points with the Greek giants on the transfer. The window in Greece will close on Wednesday night and the West London side are now racing against time to complete the move.
