    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Guti laid the blame on the Spanish Football Association (RFEF) for allowing the teenager to wear the hat instead of Yamal himself, but the three-time Champions League winner feels his words were taken as a personal attack.

  • WHAT GUTI SAID

In a follow-up interview with Marca, Guti clarified: "I think my words were confused. It wasn't about Lamine. I was talking in general, about any player, especially if he's at a club and a national team. It's true that, if they let him, he can do whatever he wants. But it wasn't a personal message towards him, just because a player comes out like that."

After scoring a whopping 18 goals and registering 25 assists in the 2024-25 campaign, Yamal will hope to do even better when he returns to club action after the summer break.
