  • WHAT HAPPENED?

While early assessments are still underway, Arsenal are yet to confirm the full extent of the injury. However, with the transfer window still open, the Gunners are considering options to reinforce their attack in the event that Havertz’s absence stretches for longer than expected, as revealed by The Athletic.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Havertz had only recently returned to full fitness after a hamstring tear he suffered during a training camp in Dubai that ruled him out for 18 matches across the Premier League and Champions League. His absence from February to April was keenly felt, with several players stepping in to cover, including midfielder Mikel Merino, who had a brief spell as a makeshift No.9.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

New signing Viktor Gyokeres is currently the only fit and available recognised striker behind Havertz, leaving Arteta with limited choices. Leandro Trossard, who recently committed his future to the club with a new contract, has also been used as a forward in the past. While capable in the centre, the Belgian is naturally a winger and may not provide the same level of goalscoring threat as a striker.

Adding to the club’s concerns is the ongoing recovery of Gabriel Jesus, who is still working his way back from an anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained in January.

    WHAT NEXT FOR ARSENAL?

While the club navigates through the injury crisis, Arsenal’s focus shifts to the upcoming Premier League match against Leeds United this Saturday. Much will be expected of Gyokeres, who was signed for £69 million ($93m) from Sporting CP, but had an underwhelming Premier League bow in Arsenal's narrow win over Manchester United on matchday one.
