Jurgen Klopp reveals potential solution to Liverpool's left-back woes with Kostas Tsimikas and Andy Robertson both struck down by injury

After Robertson injured his shoulder during the last international break and underwent surgery, Tsimikas, on Saturday, dislocated his shoulder after he clashed with Arsenal's Bukayo Saka on the sidelines. With both left-backs out with long-term injuries, Liverpool boss Klopp is planning to slot in Joe Gomez on the left side as a makeshift option.

Speaking to reporters, Klopp said: "We will see. Can Joey play all the games coming up now until – I don’t know when – Robbo will be back? Kosti is now definitely out for a while, so I don’t know, we have to see. I didn’t have time now to think it through, but somebody will play the position I am pretty sure. It is for us obviously really tough, it’s really tough.

"You have injuries sometimes and we accept all of them, but a broken collarbone is really bad because it just takes long. Same what Robbo had: a different injury but that takes long as well, how we all know. We all know we need luck in these moments to get through and now we will have Joey there and just have to make sure we put him in cotton wool and we have to make sure he is always ready for the games."

After playing out a frustrating goalless draw against a beleaguered Manchester United side last weekend, the Reds were once again held to a 1-1 draw at their home by league leaders Arsenal. Gabriel Magalhaes opened the scoring for the visitors early into the first half but Mohamed Salah's brilliant solo effort helped them restore parity in the game.

Klopp's side will aim to get back to winning ways on Boxing Day as they take on 19th-placed Burnley in the Premier League at Turf Moor.
