Inter Milan wages: Who is the best paid player at the Nerazzurri and everything you need to know about Inter's salary bill

Life has been fantastic for those at Inter Milan in recent seasons. The Nerazzurri have firmly reestablished themselves as one of the top teams in European football.

They reached the Champions League final in 2023, narrowly losing 1-0 to Manchester City. Following that, they secured the Scudetto in the 2023-24 season and are once again among the favourites to defend their Serie A title this year.

After years of underperformance and trophyless seasons, Inter have reclaimed their spot as the face of Italian football. The reigning Serie A champions boast a squad filled with world-class talent, including Lautaro Martinez, Nicolo Barella, Alessandro Bastoni, Hakan Calhanoglu, and more.

With such stars on their roster, it’s no surprise that Inter have the highest payroll in Serie A. Along with Juventus, they are the only clubs in the league with an annual payroll exceeding €100 million.

So, who is the highest earner at Inter this season? And who is on the opposite end of the spectrum?

GOAL delved into the numbers from Capology and found out!

    Goalkeepers

Yann Sommer arrived at Inter in 2023 and instantly became the highest-earning goalkeeper at the club following the departure of Andre Onana to Manchester United. However, he's not too far ahead in terms of his annual package compared to Spain's Josep Martinez.

Romanian goalie Ionut Radu is the third-highest earning keeper at the club, while 31-year-old Raffaele Di Gennaro, who is an academy graduate, earns the least among them all.

    NameSalary
    Yann Sommer€3,210,000
    Josep Martinez€2,780,000
    Ionut Radu€1,850,000
    Raffaele Di Gennaro€280,000

    Defenders

Was there ever any question about this one? Indeed, Alessandro Bastoni is the undisputed highest-earning defender at Inter, and the only one to earn an eight-figure salary annually.

Following the Italian centre-back, Federico Dimarco and Stefan de Vrij both earn over €7 million per season. Interestingly, Benjamin Pavard earns more than Denzel Dumfries.

Veterans Matteo Darmian and Francesco Acerbi, both over 35 years of age, are understandably towards the bottom of the salary list, reflecting their more modest earnings at this stage of their careers.

21-year-old Argentine centre-back is the lowest-paid defender at Inter Milan.

    NameSalary
    Alessandro Bastoni€10,190,000
    Federico Dimarco€7,410,000
    Stefan de Vrij€7,040,000
    Benjamin Pavard€6,410,000
    Denzel Dumfries€5,130,000
    Matteo Darmian€3,210,000
    Carlos Augusto€2,820,000
    Francesco Acerbi€2,780,000
    Yann Aurel Bisseck€1,920,000

    Midfielders

While both Nicolo Barella and Hakan Calhanoglu could be considered deserving of the title of highest-earning midfielder, it’s the former who tops the list. However, there’s only a slight difference in their wages.

In third spot is former Napoli man Piotr Zielinski, who earns over €8 million per season, ahead of the likes of Davide Frattesi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Kristjan Asllani and Tajon Buchanan, who are not regulars in the squad, earn the lowest wages among all midfielders at Inter.

    NameSalary
    Nicolo Barella€12,040,000
    Hakan Calhanoglu€11,110,000
    Piotr Zielinski€8,330,000
    Davide Frattesi€5,190,000
    Henrikh Mkhitaryan€4,870,000
    Kristjan Asllani€2,780,000
    Tajon Buchanan€2,780,000

    Attackers

This one's a no-brainer. Lautaro Martinez has been Inter's standout player for the past five years and is undoubtedly deserving of his status as not only the highest-paid forward but also the highest-paid player in the entire squad.

His strike partner Marcus Thuram is second on this list, although many might believe that he should be earning at least eight figures annually. Currently, he doesn't earn even half as much as Martinez does.

30-year-old striker Joaquin Correa is the third-highest earning attacker, ahead of prolific Iranian forward Mehdi Taremi. The latter, however, is yet to score for Inter in the Serie A.

Meanwhile, Marko Arnautovic is the lowest-paid forward.

    NameSalary
    Lautaro Martinez€16,670,000
    Marcus Thuram€7,690,000
    Joaquin Correa€6,480,000
    Mehdi Taremi€5,560,000
    Marko Arnautovic€4,490,000

As keen readers might have already guessed, Martinez is the top-earning player at Inter, with a salary exceeding €16 million.

Barella and Calhanoglu follow in second and third, respectively, while Bastoni claims the fourth spot as the only defender in the top five highest-paid players at the club.

Surprisingly, Zielinski makes his way into the list, rounding out the top five.

    NameSalary

We don’t exactly need to feel sorry for Di Gennaro, but he is the lowest-paid player at the club, earning under a million euros a year—making him the only one in that category. He isn't, however, the only goalkeeper among the five lowest-paid players at the club, with Radu making it to the third spot.

Defenders Palacios and Bisseck finish in second and fourth positions, respectively, while Asllani completes the top five lowest-paid players at Inter.

    NameSalary
    Raffaele Di Gennaro€280,000
