Hudson-Odoi, Ampadu and the top 10 teenage stars to watch at Chelsea

Now on the verge of an England senior debut after five goals and four assists for Chelsea this season, Callum Hudson-Odoi has well and truly announced himself as one of world football’s best youngsters.

The 18-year-old winger is blessed with incredible raw talent, able to beat his man at will, to both create and finish chances.

He was even at the centre of a January transfer tussle as Chelsea fought to resist the advances of Bayern Munich, who bid £35 million for their academy product.

Despite the youngster handing in a transfer request, the Blues hope to persuade Hudson-Odoi to renew his deal – which expires in June 2020 – by offering him around £85,000 a week.

Hudson-Odoi is certainly ready to become a major player at Stamford Bridge, as underlined by the fact that he ranked third in Goal's 2019 NxGn list.

Just like Hudson-Odoi, Ethan Ampadu has established himself as a regular member of the Chelsea first-team squad under Maurizio Sarri this season.

The versatile defender, who can also play in midfield, made his Blues debut under Antonio Conte, though, not long after being signed from Exeter City, where he had made his senior bow at just 15.

Ampadu has struggled to progress under Sarri but time is on his side and he has already shown what a class act he is by impressing for Wales at senior international level.

In 2017, Chelsea beat a host of top clubs to the signing of Rangers academy product Billy Gilmour, who cost an initial £600,000, with the potential of further add-ons.

Gilmour is presently proving his worth in Chelsea's youth system, showing himself to be a uniquely-gifted midfield technician, one who is already lining out for the Under-23s at just 17.

Scotland Under-21s have already called up the youngster, who has been described by some as the best talent his nation has produced in a generation, as well as earning comparisons with Cesc Fabregas for his intelligent and creative style of play.

A goal on his Under-23 debut at just 16 announced Tino Anjorin as a force to be reckoned with at youth level.

This came after he also got his first taste of Under-18s football last season, even scoring after coming off the bench in the FA Youth Cup final against Arsenal.

Anjorin is getting bigger and stronger as he gets older, combining his technical skill as an attacking midfielder with impressive physical attributes.

Along with Callum Hudson-Odoi, Phil Foden and Morgan Gibbs-White, Gallagher won the Under-17s World Cup with England in 2017.

Although adept in the final third, creating and scoring goals, his future appears to lie in the role of a powerful defensive or box-to-box midfielder.

He could soon be set for a senior debut after being named on Chelsea's B list for the Europa League.

Chelsea beat off stiff competition from across Europe to sign the prolific marksman from Ajax.

He has mostly played Under-23s football this season, but by March had racked up 10 goals in 25 games across various age groups.

The Checkatrade Trophy allows Premier League academies to face EFL clubs and Redan scored in Chelsea's quarter-final against Oxford United.

At Under-18s level, Redan scored twice in last season's 7-1 FA Youth Cup final rout of Arsenal. He now plays for Netherlands Under-19s, where he has seven goals in his last four games at the time of writing.

Like Gallagher, George McEachran is in Maurizio Sarri's B list for the Europa League, meaning he may get a first-team chance soon.

In fact, he has come closer to making his debut than many other youngsters this season, making the bench against MOL Vidi in the Europa League.

McEachran’s brother Josh played for Chelsea under Carlo Ancelotti and looked set for a promising career at Stamford Bridge.

However, Ancelotti would soon leave and Jose Mourinho's return meant that the midfielder would move to Brentford, where he still plays today.

His younger brother George – a technically-gifted attacking midfielder – looks primed for an exciting career and he was one of four Chelsea players to win the Under-17 World Cup in 2017.

Castillo is another ex-Ajax academy product that has been snapped up by Chelsea's scouting network.

The youngster is a versatile full-back who can also play as a winger and midfielder. He was part of Jody Morris' quadruple-winning team last season.

Like Redan, he scored against League One opposition in the Checkatrade Trophy quarter-final win over Oxford United.

He is quick and technically gifted and he has been capped by Netherlands at youth level.

Born in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, Guehi is a highly established youngster at youth level, and is one of the most decorated defenders in his age group.

Along with Hudson-Odoi, Guehi was part of the Under-17 World Cup-winning side in India in 2017, and won the quadruple last season in Jody Morris' Under-18 squad.

Guehi also claimed a league-and-cup double in his first season as a Chelsea youth player.

He has been at Chelsea since he was eight and his current deal runs until 2020.

With Chelsea since Under-7s level, Lamptey made his mark last season under Jody Morris, making the most appearances in the squad and getting 11 assists in the process.

Small, quick and versatile, Lamptey has similarities with Coventry City loanee Dujon Sterling, as he is able to play in any role on the right-hand side of the pitch.

He has been capped at England Under-19s level, joining his country at the European Championship in Finland, and is under contract until June 2020.
