THE BIGGER PICTURE
The 30-year-old striker has taken German football by storm since joining Bayern Munich in the summer. He has scored 17 goals in the Bundesliga thus far which is already more than last season's top scorers Niclas Fullkrug and Christopher Nkunku's total tally (16). Messi, on the other hand, had an impressive debut campaign in the US for Inter Miami as he scored 11 goals and provided five assists. He also received Inter Miami's MVP award for the 2023 season.
