Is Harry Kane injured? Bayern Munich striker posts update straight after breaking Bundesliga goal record as fans hope message proves he's avoided serious issue

The England captain got on the scoresheet late in the first half to score his 31st Bundesliga goal of the campaign, a record for a debutant in the German top flight. Kane's effort helped Bayern to a convincing 5-2 win over the league's bottom-placed club, but he was given a scare after colliding with the post and landing awkwardly late on. The Bayern forward seemed to try and allay any fears over a long-term issue with a social media post straight after the full-time whistle.

Kane took to X and wrote: "Proud to break a Bundesliga record but more importantly another good win."

Manager Thomas Tuchel explained the issue after the match but couldn't give a full diagnosis, telling reporters: "He [Kane] collided with the post and twisted his ankle a bit - he had his ankle iced. There's still no diagnosis, we have to wait. I hope it's nothing bad."

Sports director Christoph Freund echoed those thoughts, hinting that Kane may be withdrawn from Gareth Southgate's latest England squad. "We hope it's not that bad," he added. "It was a precautionary measure that he went out. Harry twisted his ankle and the area had to be cooled down. He won't take any risks with the national team."

While Kane broke records on Saturday it was 21-year-old Jamal Musiala who stole the show. The German midfielder got on the scoresheet twice - the second thanks to his signature dribbling prowess - while substitutes Serge Gnabry and Mathys Tel got in on the action late on to seal a convincing rout. The win means Tuchel's side move within seven points of leaders Bayer Leverkusen before they face Freiburg on Sunday.

Freund's comments would suggest an imminent withdrawal from the Three Lions set-up. England face Brazil and Belgium in the last international camp before Euro 2024. Fellow forwards Ollie Watkins, Ivan Toney and Jarrod Bowen will be eyeing a starting berth if Kane does pull out.
