Ipswich frontman Delap, who has netted 10 Premier League goals this season, currently forms part of the Young Lions in their U21 squad. He was, however, invited to join in with the seniors as Thomas Tuchel readies his troops for the start of 2026 World Cup qualification.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

That session allowed Delap to get a good look at what makes England’s all-time leading goalscorer so special. He was amazed by what he saw from Kane, with the prolific Bayern Munich star making the art of hitting the net look easy.

  • WHAT LIAM DELAP SAID

Delap has said of watching Kane up close: "That was the first time I’ve trained with Harry. He is someone I've looked up to for ages and he's got everything. He's had the most amazing career and he's still flying so there's someone as young as me to look up to him and then be able to watch him live is an incredible experience.

"I had a little chat with him, he's a really nice guy. I watched him enough in the shooting drill to take so much from him and he's just incredible. What I noticed was that just everything goes in! His all-round game is incredible and he's played at the top level for so long now but as a striker it's something I really enjoy doing, to watch the best practice and it's the best I've seen."

    DID YOU KNOW?

Delap has been earning plenty of praise himself this season, during what has been a breakthrough Premier League campaign for him, and added on improving his own game: "It's my first full season in the Premier League and you’re always going to learn and improve. The manager and players at Ipswich have really helped with that and I like to think I'm learning as much as I can and trying to implement that into the next game.

"It's the quality and physicality of the Premier League that's so intense. I've got fitter as the games have gone along. It's making the most out of every moment because the quality, if you make a mistake in this league, they punish you."

  • WHAT NEXT?

With Ipswich facing the threat of relegation after just one season back in the big time, Delap is said to be attracting plenty of interest ahead of the next transfer window. As further potential is unlocked in the talented 22-year-old, it may be that he goes on to become the natural successor to Kane in England’s No.9 berth.
