'Gotta keep the momentum going!' - Harry Kane singles out Bayern Munich youngster after a 'night to remember' in the Champions League

Bayern midfielder Karl scored his first goal for the club on his first Champions League start, opening the scoring in the fourth minute of the game. The teenage midfielder became the youngest German and Bayern player to score in the tournament at 17 years and 242 days old. Karl has already received plenty of praise from several players and pundits in Germany, with World Cup-winning midfielder Sami Khedira described him as the “hottest asset of Germany” and praised the "healthy arrogance" of the midfielder.

Kane applauded Karl after the game, posting on Instagram: "Brilliant Champions League night at the Allianz. Congrats Lennart Karl on a night to remember! Gotta keep this momentum going."

In the post-match interview, Karl echoed Kane’s sentiments, saying: “I have to build on that now and not stop just because I've scored a goal.”

The win against the Belgian giants extended Bayern's winning streak to 12 matches in all competitions this season. Karl got them up and running on Wednesday, collecting the ball from 30 yards out and dribbling to the edge of the box before curling it past Brugge goalkeeper Nordin Jackers, making history in the process.

Bayern continued to dominate. Intricate wing play from Colombian forward Luis Diaz set up midfielder Konrad Laimer, who delivered a perfect cross for English striker Kane to tap into an empty net. Bayern kept pressing, with Michael Olise teeing up Aleksander Pavlovic, whose shot was well saved by Jackers. Karl came close to adding a second goal but saw his effort go wide.

Diaz then made it 3-0 before half-time, taking on a pass from Laimer and unleashing a powerful shot past Jackers. In the second half, Kane was put clean through by an aerial through ball but was again denied by a brilliant save from the Brugge keeper.

Laimer collected another assist when he spotted striker Nicolas Jackson making an unmarked run. He slid the ball across to Jackson, who finished to make it 4-0 for Bayern.

Kane’s goal against Club Brugge saw him achieve several milestones. According to Opta, Kane has scored 20 goals in 12 games for Bayern in all competitions this season, reaching 20 goals faster than Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo have ever managed at the start of a season in their club careers. The goal also marked the 400th of his professional career.

Kane has thrived under a special playing style devised by manager Vincent Kompany, who described him as a perfect example of a player who perseveres and leads by example for his teammates.

Karl will look to continue his momentum when Bayern take on Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday. With a perfect record in all competitions and sitting five points clear at the top of the Bundesliga, Kompany's side will be confident of earning three points against the German top-flight's bottom club.
