  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Davidson has spent the last five years in Chicago after being chosen No.1 overall in the 2018 College Draft, but went into the off-season as a free agent and will now begin a new chapter of her career in 2024 with Gotham, which beat OL Reign to win its first NWSL Championship title in November.

  • WHAT DAVIDSON SAID

Speaking upon the announcement of the move, Davidson said: “Gotham is at the forefront of what lies ahead for this league. The exciting and fluid style of play that the coaching staff has implemented paired with the strong team culture throughout the organization creates an incredibly exciting environment to join. I cannot wait to get started."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Davidson is the second USWNT star to join Gotham in this off-season, following the arrival of Crystal Dunn from the Portland Thorns. There could be more, too, with the club linked with both Rose Lavelle and Emily Sonnett.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

At 20 years old, Davidson was the youngest player on the USWNT's roster when it won the 2019 Women's World Cup, defeating the Netherlands 2-0 in the final in France.

WHAT NEXT FOR DAVIDSON AND GOTHAM?

Davidson will have to wait for her Gotham debut as the new NWSL season will not get underway until March - but there is plenty to keep her busy until then. After all, she has a spot on the USWNT roster for the inaugural CONCACAF W Gold Cup to compete for, with the tournament set to kick off on February 20.
