Former Tottenham director Fabio Paratici handed 18-month suspended jail sentence after Juventus scandal as part of plea bargain deal

Paratici stepped down from his role at Tottenham in March 2023 after being handed a 30-month ban. The Italian official was sanctioned for his role in alleged financial irregularities during his time at Juventus. The illegal scheme involved inflating transfer fees while dealing with other Serie A clubs, which allowed the Bianconeri to spend beyond their limits under the Financial Fair Play regulations. 

The Sun reports that as part of a bargain plea submitted in June this year, three Juventus officials, including Paratici, will serve a suspended jail term of 18 months. Ex-Juve president Andrea Agnelli accepted a 20-month suspended sentence, while Nedved signed up for a suspended 14-month term.

After Paratici's 30-month suspension ended this summer, he was linked with a move back to Spurs. However, following his conviction, the Italian can no longer return to work in England as per a revised rule, which was agreed by all English clubs in 2023, that no individual involved in "corruption, fraud and tax evasion" can be included on the board of a Premier League side.

Thomas Frank's Tottenham, who have made a bright start to the 2025-26 campaign by registering three wins out of their first five Premier League matches, will next face Doncaster in a Carabao Cup third-round fixture against Doncaster on Wednesday.
