    THE BIGGER PICTURE

It's been a very slow transfer window for Liverpool, but things are finally picking up pace as Friday's deadline approaches. On Tuesday the club announced an agreement has been reached for Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili to join next year, and Chiesa will shortly arrive to bolster the Reds' attack.

  • WHAT CHIESA SAID

"Ready to start this new adventure, I wanted to say goodbye to the Juventus fans," Chiesa said. "Thank you for your affection and for these years, I will carry you in my heart. It's sad but I'm really happy for this new adventure. I'm really happy and my family and I can't wait."

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Chiesa was told by Juventus boss Thiago Motta that he wasn't going to be part of his plans for the season, prompting his swift exit from the club. The 26-year-old starred for Italy en route to their Euro 2020 success, but a serious ACL injury in January 2022 sidelined him for nearly 10 months and he's continued to battle injuries since.

    WHAT NEXT FOR LIVERPOOL?

Chiesa's arrival appears to signal the end of Liverpool's pursuit of Newcastle and England winger Anthony Gordon. It remains to be seen whether there will be any further incomings at Anfield before Friday's deadline, but if the club's fans have their way, there will definitely be more business.
