    THE BIGGER PICTURE

He gave those in attendance something to shout about when wrapping up a 2-0 win for Inter Miami in the closing stages, with a remarkable pass and clever movement, but the Argentina international did not speak with reporters after that game.

  • AND WHAT'S MORE

He could find himself in hot water as a result, with MLS rules dictating that players have to be made available for interview at the end of games. Dan Courtemanche, the divisions executive vice president of communications, had confirmed as much prior to a ball being kicked in New York.

    WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Miami spokeswomen Molly Dreska said after the match that Messi would not be facing the press, which leaves him in violation of MLS regulations. There is now the possibility of the Argentine icon being punished, but no decision has been made as yet following a stunning start to the life in the United States for the all-time great – with 11 goals recorded through nine straight wins that have delivered Leagues Cup glory and three welcome points in MLS.
