Endrick's shirt number at Real Madrid revealed after Kylian Mbappe scuppers plan for Brazilian teenager to take No.9

A year and a half after he initially agreed to join the Spanish giants from Palmeiras, the attacker is finally set to be unveiled as a Madrid player on Saturday after being forced to wait until he turned 18 before he could leave Brazil.

The striker was initially to be handed the No. 9 jersey at the Santiago Bernabeu, but that plan was abandoned when Kylian Mbappe was given it after joining from Paris Saint-Germain in a free transfer. Instead, Endrick will wear the No. 16 shirt in his first season with Los Blancos, ASreports

Endrick was 16 years old when he made his senior debut with Brazilian side Palmeiras and he donned the No. 16 shirt back then before eventually switching to his preferred No. 9. He will see his career with Madrid begin in a similar fashion.

Endrick will be unveiled as a Madrid player on Saturday. He will be tied to the European and Spanish champions until 2030.
