    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Many have questioned Martinez’s mind games, as he looks to get inside the head of opponents, but he is only fighting the corner of his club or country. Lloris has no issue with the enigmatic South American and considers him to be heading towards GOAT status.

  • WHAT HUGO LLORIS SAID

Lloris has told La Nacion: “Yes, yes, I like Dibu. There are many questions about his personality, but I know he's someone who adds a lot of value. He has a great personality on and off the pitch.

“And although he's sometimes criticized for how he behaves on penalties, I think he's doing very well and is defending his goal, his country, his club. On penalties, he's one of the best, if not the best. But he's not just good on penalties; he's a great goalkeeper and has been fantastic in the Premier League with Aston Villa and instrumental in winning trophies with Argentina.

“To win trophies, you have to be a great goalkeeper. He has everything it takes to be one of the best, if not the best goalkeeper in Argentina's history. I have a lot of respect for him and I'm happy with his status.”
