  • WHAT HAPPENED?

No United player has played more games this season than Dalot, who has made 51 appearances across all competitions. He has also made 49 starts, more than any other player. But his campaign could already be over after it was revealed that he picked up a calf injury.

  • WHAT AMORIM SAID

"Diogo is out. We don't know long he is going to be out. But he is out for these games, we will see until the end," Amorim told a press conference on Friday. "He has a problem with his muscle in his calf. He had a sequence of games, he played all the time. We tried to manage but some of the players have to play a lot of minutes and we have to protect the ones that we think are not so ready to cope with that, but Dalot felt something. There is that possibility [that he is out for the season] but I don't know, we will check week by week, because he works really hard, he can recover quite well, so we will see."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Dalot has been ruled out of Sunday's trip to Bournemouth and is all but certain to miss both legs of United's crucial Europa League semi-final against Athletic Club. However, there was more positive news about Amad Diallo and Matthijs de Ligt. The Ivory Coast winger has been out with an ankle injury since the start of February while the Dutch defender has not played since April 1 with a foot injury. The coach said: "Amad is near, Matta is near, but the rest is at the same pace. Ayden [Heaven] is not ready, so I think that is it."

  • DID YOU KNOW?

The coach refused to comment on reports that United are trying to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolves but he admitted he wants the club to make signings as soon as possible ahead of the next campaign. "I will not say anything about Matheus because if I say one time, I will have to say it about any situation that is yes or no," he said. "I could say this is a conversation for the end of the season but I have an idea that is clear because we need to do things early."

    WHAT NEXT FOR MAN UTD?

Amorim has admitted that getting to the Europa League final is the team's main priority but he said they still had to take the remaining Premier League games seriously. And he hinted he would not rest too many players for the trip to the south coast, unlike when he made six changes for the recent 1-0 defeat at home to Wolves after the incredible Europa League win over Lyon. "We need to have that feeling that every game is here is important. And we have to win every game, because that is a feeling that's really important - not to lose," he said. "Of course, you can see the context. But I think we are going to face this game with the best team, because we had a full week to prepare, some of the players did not play against Wolverhampton, so sometimes, if you recover so much of the players, it is a bad thing. So I will try to manage everything to win this game and to prepare for the next one."
