    WHAT HAPPENED?

Moyes will be called to corroborate Paqueta's claims regarding a yellow card he received in West Ham's 1-1 draw away to Bournemouth in August 2023, according to the reporting by the Daily Mail. The Brazilian's defence is built on the premise he couldn't have planned to deliberately receive a yellow card, as he and Moyes had agreed to substitute the player.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Paqueta was rumoured to be joining Manchester City at the time. His manager agreed if West Ham were in a comfortable winning position, he would be substituted. The Irons took a 1-0 lead in the 52nd minute before Bournemouth equalised in the 83rd. The midfielder was booked in injury time.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

The Bourneouth game is one of four breaches levied against Paqueta by the FA. They also allege suspicious betting patterns around West Ham's fixtures with Leicester City, Aston Villa and Leeds in the 2022/23 season. Paqueta was booked in all four games.
