Cristiano Ronaldo opens door to sensational Real Madrid return as Al-Nassr star admits Santiago Bernabeu was his 'happiest place'

While many legends have donned the famous white jersey, few have left an impact as significant as Ronaldo in the Spanish capital. After arriving from Manchester United in 2009, Ronaldo quickly became a goal-scoring machine, netting an astonishing 450 goals in just 438 appearances. And during his nine-year stay, he secured 15 major trophies, including four Champions League titles.

When asked about the possibility of returning to Real Madrid, by Spanish journalist Eduardo Aguirre, Ronaldo said: "Maybe after ending my career, something can happen."

Reflecting on his time in Spain, the veteran striker described it as the peak of his professional journey.

“My period at Real Madrid is the happiest for me in terms of football,” he admitted, emphasizing the special place the club holds in his heart.

Ronaldo's existing deal with Al-Nassr, which reportedly earns him around £3.1 million per week, is set to expire this summer. However, reports have indicated that the 39-year-old has already agreed to continue with the Saudi Pro League side, with a new contract estimated to be worth an astonishing €183 million (£154m/$188m) annually, equivalent to €15 million (£12.6m/$15m) per month or €3.8 million per week.

Despite nearing the twilight of his career, Ronaldo remains highly ambitious and the former Manchester United superstar has previously stated that retirement is not on his immediate agenda, with a personal goal of reaching 1,000 career goals before calling time on his playing days on his mind.

His relentless pursuit of records continued in Al-Nassr’s recent 3-1 victory over Al-Fateh, where he found the back of the net yet again, bringing his career tally to 920 goals. He is set to be in action once more on Thursday when his side takes on Al-Raed in the Saudi Pro League.
