    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The result leaves Al-Nassr second in the table, still some way behind Al-Hilal who have opened up a seven-point lead courtesy of a win over Ronaldo and co last time out. The veteran is, though, the top scorer in the Saudi Pro League with a remarkable 16 goals in 15 games.

  • DID YOU KNOW

Ronaldo played the majority of his 1,200 matches for Real Madrid, where he made 438 appearances. He has racked up 346 matches across two spells with Manchester United, and he has a whopping 205 caps for Portugal.

Former England goalkeeper Peter Shilton holds the record for most competitive professional appearances in men's football with 1,387, per the BBC.

  • WHAT RONALDO SAID

The 38-year-old superstar was evidently overjoyed to reach the 1,200-game milestone and evidently still believes he has a lot to give in the twilight of his career. Taking to social media after the game, he wrote: "Three more points! Thankful to all my team mates who helped me reach my 1200th match. What a ride, but we’re not done yet!"

  • WHAT NEXT FOR RONALDO AND AL-NASSR?

Ronaldo will know there is a lot of work to do to close the gap on Al-Hilal, who are already threatening to run away with the league title at this early stage. Up next, though, is Kings Cup of Champions action against mid-table Al-Shabab on Monday.
