  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The Chelsea defender is 31 years of age, but likes to indulge in childish behaviour occasionally as much as anybody else. She was left counting the cost of one ill-judged decision during a visit to the Winter Wonderland spectacle in Hyde Park.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

For some reason, European Championship winner Bright felt the need to slide down the escalators which take passengers to the London Underground. She was soon left in a heap on the floor, while sporting an unfortunate injury in a rather sensitive area.

  • WHAT MILLIE BRIGHT SAID

Bright has told former Lionesses team-mate Rachel Daly on ‘The Rest Is Football: Daly Brightness’ podcast: “Every Christmas we used to do Winter Wonderland. And me being me, you know what I’m like, silly old me. We were in the tube station and I thought, it just popped into my head and I was like, how sick would it be if I just flew down that side on my bum? Like, if I had slid down the escalators.

“I was like, what if I just slid down there, that would be so sick. Like I could race everyone and I’d win. So I did that. And then at the bottom, I didn’t know, there was like a little gold stump. It just chucked me off the escalators.

“I flew off like a ragdoll. And then I was like ‘Oh, my bum is a bit sore’. When I tell you the next day I woke up, my a*se was black and blue. I couldn’t sit on the toilet, I couldn’t do anything. So I do have a scar on my bum.”

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Bright added when asked how long she was in pain for: “I couldn’t sit on the toilet for a good week. I was in so much pain. I was like ‘Oh my god’. Luckily it was a Christmas break so I didn’t have to train. And like the next day, it egged out. So I looked like I had an implant in my bum!”

  • WHAT NEXT?

Bright, who is club captain at WSL leaders Chelsea, has fully recovered from her escalator mishap and, with 88 England caps to her name, is counting down the days to a Euros title defence with the Lionesses this summer.
