Levi Colwill to join Bayern Munich? Chelsea defender in talks to unite with Harry Kane while Jonathan Tah tells Bayer Leverkusen he wants to join German giants

A report from Sky Sport in Germany suggests that initial talks over a deal for Colwill have already taken place. Bayern are also believed to have reached a verbal agreement with Tah, with a separate Sky Sport report explaining that the Germany international has now informed current club Bayer Leverkusen of his desire to make that move.

Both Tah and Colwill are left-sided centre-backs, yet it doesn't quite seem to be an either/or situation as Bayern look to strengthen their defensive depth and take into account possible summer departures of both Matthijs de Ligt and Dayot Upamecano. Eric Dier's initial short-term loan from Tottenham was made permanent in March.

Colwill made 32 appearances in his maiden season as a first-team with Chelsea following previous loans at Huddersfield Town and Brighton. The latter had been hoping for a permanent deal last summer, with reported interest also arriving from Liverpool.

Bayern losing their stranglehold on the Bundesliga had been coming, but the important thing now is how they respond. Already, Vincent Kompany is in as new head coach and there could yet be plenty of player turnover before 2024-25 begins.
