Chelsea complete deal to sign Saint-Etienne youngster Mathis Amougou as midfielder signs huge eight-year contract at Stamford Bridge

On Tuesday, Chelsea announced the signing of Amougou from Saint-Etienne on a staggering eight-year contract. The 19-year-old is reported to have cost around £12 million ($15m) and he is expected to go into the club's first-team squad.

Per the Standard, the Blues view a potential loan to Strasbourg next season as an option for the youngster. Amougou has won seven caps for France's Under-19 side and made a total of 19 first-team appearances for Saint-Etienne before his move.

Amougou told Chelsea's website: “I'm very happy. It's an honour for me to sign for such a big club like Chelsea.

“They believe in young players and the process they have in place to develop us is fantastic.”

Chelsea face Brighton in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday, before then playing them again in the Premier League the following Friday.
