Bournemouth vs Luton Premier League clash to be replayed in full following abandonment after Tom Lockyer cardiac arrest incident

The game was abandoned after 59 minutes of play after Lockyer collapsed due to cardiac arrest. The Premier League announced on Wednesday that the match would be played in full at Vitality Stadium later in the season, though a date has not yet been decided.

A statement read: "The game will be rescheduled for later in the season, with a date to be confirmed following consultation with relevant parties. The decision to abandon the match in the 59th minute was made collectively between the match officials, players, managers from both clubs and the Premier League.

"The League would like to thank the medical staff and all those involved for their swift actions in responding to what was an extremely upsetting situation for everyone. We wish Tom a continued recovery and our thoughts are with him, his family and all those at Luton Town FC."

Lockyer, who collapsed on the field during the Championship play-off final earlier this year, was taken to hospital following the medical emergency at Bournemouth. The 29-year-old has undergone tests to find out more about his condition and it is not yet known when he will be allowed to return to the game.

The Premier League, Bournemouth and Luton will decide on the date for the fixture to be replayed, while Lockyer will continue his recovery following the scare at the weekend. In the meantime, Luton will take on Newcastle in the league on Saturday, while Bournemouth will visit Nottingham Forest on the same day.
