Bayern Munich turn back on Kingsley Coman decision as Vincent Kompany wants Arsenal target to stay after Leroy Sane exit

According a report from Sky Sportof Germany, Bayern have backtracked on their decision to part ways with Coman this summer in the aftermath of their failure to tie Leroy Sane down to a new contract. Kompany wants to count on Coman next season after Sane completed his transfer to Galatasaray, leaving the Bavarians in need of attacking depth.

Coman was linked with a transfer to Arsenal in April, with the Gunners reportedly seeking to capitalise on the Frenchman's lack of playing time at the Allianz Arena. There were inquiries from clubs from Saudi Arabia, too, with Bayern keen on getting his €17.5 million (£15m/$20m) salary off the wage bill. However, Kompany demands his continuation at the club for at least another year, with the Frenchman tied to a contract until 2027.

Bayern's reluctance to offload the 29-year-old could also be pointed towards their inability to convince other targets to join them this summer. Die Roten were said to be keen on signing Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain this summer, but the Champions League holders have refused to put him up for sale, with the winger said to be indispensable to Luis Enrique's plans. Bayern were also linked with Athletic Club's Nico Williams, going so far as to meet with the player's agent. But they seem to have fallen behind in the race to land the Spanish international, with Barcelona considered to be in pole position to acquire his services.

Coman scored twice and registered an assists in Bayern's 10-0 rout of Auckland City in their opening game of the Club World Cup. If the report from Sky Sport is true, the forward will likely continue for another year in Bavaria. He will be expected to start in the side's second game, in which they face Argentine heavyweights Boca Juniors on Saturday, June 21.
