Barnabas Varga posts first message from hospital bed after undergoing surgery on facial fractures sustained in horror collision at Euro 2024

Varga reposted the image and message that his wife, Laura Skraptis, shared on her Instagram story. The picture showed the couple holding hands, with the player clearly in a hospital bed.

Following the collision against Scotland and an initial statement from the Hungarian football federation, Varga's father had also made public comment, stating that the family felt calmer after surgery and were just awaiting further updates from Laura.

Skraptis said: "Thank you for your kind and supportive messages. Barni is out of surgery. It's going to be some rest, but it'll be fine!"

Varga won't play again at Euro 2024 and the big hope now is that the Ferencvaros player will be able to fully recover at his own pace, with the goal of his career continuing unaffected.
