  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The 29-year-old was shown a yellow card 20 minutes into his team's League Two match against Colchester on Saturday and was then shown a straight red card just six minutes later. Evans, who joined from Millwall in the summer transfer window, could be out for three matches because of the sending off.

    WHAT PHIL PARKINSON SAID

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson was not happy with the referee with regards the sending off, saying after the match: "The first one, I didn't think George should have gone in for that challenge. He has closed the lad down. The second one, I have only seen it from one angle so I can't see whether there was contact. If there was contact, it is disappointing but the less said about the referee the better. George has been brilliant for us and it is the first sending off of his career."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Despite the loss of Evans, who has not missed a League Two match since joining the club, Wrexham went on to claim the three points against Colchester. Elliot Lee and Zach Mitchell fired the home team to a two-goal lead before the visitors pulled one back late on.
