The former Real Madrid man brilliant took the ball down on the edge of the box, lifting it over his body before hammering home a low-driven volley. The Spaniard's first-ever MLS goal, he found the back of the net on his 15th appearance stateside in the 25th minute to level the game at 1-1.

It stayed that way until second half stoppage-time, when midfielder Dante Sealy knocked home a late winner to see Toyota Park erupt in joy.

Illaramendi joined the MLS side in August 2023, where he made 14 appearances without finding the back of the net. Now, just one game into the 2024 MLS season, he's officially opened his MLS account - and it came in style!

Prior to landing with FC Dallas, he made 197 appearances across all competitions for Real Sociedad in Spain from 2015-2022. However, prior to his time there, he crafted his trade with Los Blancos at the Santiago Bernabeu where he made 90 appearances over two seasons from 2013-2015.

The Western Conference side will be taking on Eastern Conference heavyweights CF Montreal in week two. They'll look to take down the Canadian club when they hit the road to Toyota Stadium.
