  • WHAT HAPPENED?

United sacked ten Hag earlier this week, with the club currently languishing in 14th in the Premier League table. Reports suggest Ruben Amorim has been targeted as the Dutchman's replacement and talkSPORT now reports that Antony has already been told he can find a new club in January, having managed just five goals since arriving in 2022 for a staggering £85m ($110m).

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

United know they have no chance of making anything but a significant loss on Antony, but both his former club Ajax and Fluminense are interested in securing his signature. Antony has a contract that runs until 2027, but the club may be forced to simply accept any bid that comes their way for a player who has scored just one goal in five outings this season.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Antony has never scored more than nine goals in a single league campaign, and his highest-scoring campaign at United came in 2022/23, when he netted four times. At Ajax, his most prolific season came in 2020/21, when he scored nine and registered eight assists.

    WHAT NEXT?

United play Leicester in the EFL Cup before taking on Chelsea in the Premier League this weekend. They have made an official move to appoint Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim as Ten Hag's replacement, having communicated their desire to pay his €10m (£8m/$11m) release clause.
