Antony domestic violence investigation concluded by Sao Paulo police with no charges brought against Man Utd winger despite shocking claims from ex-girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin

The Manchester United winger has been the subject of a police investigation in Brazil after ex-girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin accused him of assault and threatening behaviour. Antony was questioned by police, while Cavallin also spoke to the authorities. The police collected statements from 19 witnesses during their investigation, according to Globo.

Sao Paulo police have now concluded their investigation into the matter and will not be bringing any charges against Antony. The police concluded there was insufficient evidence of any wrongdoing by the Manchester United player. The report will now be sent to the Public Prosecutor's Office in Braziland the BrazilianJustice Departmentto be analysed.Greater Manchester Police are also looking into allegations against Antony and are yet to reach a conclusion. Antony has always strongly denied the allegations made against him.

Cavallin's lawyer, Daniel Bialski, spoke out after the conclusion of the investigation: "It should be noted that there is overwhelming evidence that leaves no doubt that Gabriela was the victim, here in Brazil and in England, of physical and psychological aggression. Therefore, we await the statement from the Public Prosecutor's Office, trusting and hoping that a formal criminal complaint will be filed against former player Anthony, who should be prosecuted and, ultimately, convicted for his multiple acts of violence against women."

Mauricio de Carvalho Araujo and Elaine Angel, part of Antony's defence team, also issued a statement: "The defense always believed that the investigations would demonstrate Antony's innocence."

Antony did take a period of absence from Manchester United after the allegations were made and has spoken about how he suffered last season. He has been linked with a move away from the Red Devils this summer but remains with Erik ten Hag's side, as things stand, for the 2024-25 Premier League season.
