Mathias Pogba joins French third division side Tours

Mathias Pogba has joined French third division side Tours as a free agent after reaching an agreement with the side.

The 28-year-old, brother to Manchester United star Paul, last featured in a competitive game in April 2017 for Sparta Rotterdam in the Dutch Eredivisie after suffering an Achilles tendon injury.

However, on regaining his fitness, the striker signed for the TFC and he is aiming to help the side regain promotion to the Ligue 2 following their relegation to the Championnat National last season.

"I chose Tours, because of all the different discussions I had with interested clubs, only the management of Tours understood me and convinced me to join their project," Pogba told club website.

"Since February after my injury, I trained hard to return to my best form, and it has paid off because the doctors were very confident.

"The rehabilitation was long and difficult, but I never gave up to return to my best level.

"My main goals for joining Tours are to get back on the pitch, to have fun, but also to help FC Tours and my team-mates earn promotion to Ligue 2.

"I feel physically and mentally 100 per cent and I thank the club top officials for their confidence."

Tours are currently ninth in the Championnat National log with 11 points from eight games.

Pogba could make his debut for his new club when they face Concarneau at Stade Guy Piriou on Friday, October 5.
