Katsina United’s Chinedu Udechukwu to resume light training in two weeks

Katsina United’s Chinedu Udechukwu has revealed that he is expected to resume light training in the next two weeks after a hamstring complaint ruled him out of the Chanji Boys Federation Cup campaign.

Udechukwu was the poster boy of the Chanji Boys two seasons ago when his 11 goals steered them away from the relegation zone but after a failed sojourn abroad the striker has returned back home to reshape his career with the hope of another scintillating season.

The striker has since resumed with Katsina United after playing some league games for Katsina United but a freak hamstring injury in the build-up to their Federation Cup campaign has blighted his progress and the player has expressed his unhappiness at the turn of event.

He said that he is glad that he is gradually recovering from the hamstring injury and that in the next two weeks he hopes to commence light training with the assurance that he will be back in time for the pre-season activities for next season.

“I will say that I am not a happy man at all because I really wanted to be part of Katsina United’s Federation Cup campaign but there is nothing I can do about it at present,” Udechukwu told Goal.

“I suffered a hamstring injury when we were about completing our preparations for the Federation Cup competition and here I am still battling to recover from it. I had to travel to see specialists and I am happy that I am recovering fast. It was an injury I sustained during one of our training sessions and it came at the wrong time.

“I have been told that I can start light training in the next two weeks and it is the piece of information I will like to share with you. It has been a tough period for me but the news of my expected return has made me forget about my worries.”

Udechukwu reaffirmed his confidence that Katsina United will beat Kano Pillars and qualify for the final of the Federation Cup despite the odds against them and that his teammates have assured him that having gone this far, only a place in the final will be fitting.

“I am tipping my team to qualify for the final against Kano Pillars. It won’t be an easy game but I know that Katsina United always respond when they are stretch to the limit,” Udechukwu continued.

“This is our year and Kano Pillars cannot stop us. My teammates have told me that they will put everything they have on the line to ensure that they pick the final ticket.”
