Gor Mahia convenes a meeting with players to end impasse

Gor Mahia have called for an urgent Executive Meeting to discuss the current impasse between the players and the management.

The playing unit have been on a go-slow, demanding to be paid part of the Caf cash after the club made it to the second round of the competition.

According to players, the management did not fulfil their pledge to pay 14 percent of the over Sh21 million the club received from the continental football governing body.

The seriousness of the issue came to light when Gor Mahia players refused to show up for the medal presentation at the just concluded Cecafa Kagame Cup in Tanzania,

As a result, Gor Mahia was banned from the competition for two years for their unsporting behaviour.

But with the players not willing to back off from their hardliner stands, the club was forced to convene a meeting in Nairobi to end the standoff.

“On the current impulse (impasse) within the Gor Mahia playing unit, I have in consultation with the Chairman convened an urgent EC, TB and players meeting this evening where all concerns will be addressed conclusively,” Gor Mahia Secretary General Ben Omondi said.

The management will be hoping to end the standoff before Wednesday when Gor Mahia are expected to play Yanga in the Caf Confederation Cup.
