Brighton and Hove Albion v Liverpool: Merseysiders to extend goalscoring run with win over Seagulls

Brighton and Hove Albion will have their fine home record put to the test this weekend when they play host to Liverpool at the Amex Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Seagulls scrapped their way to a goalless draw against Crystal Palace at the venue on Tuesday night - the seventh successive match in which Brighton have avoided being beaten on their own patch - and can be backed at 29/5 (6.80) with Betsafe to claim a famous victory, while the same firm go 7/2 (4.50) that the Seagulls pick up a point against the Reds.

Liverpool, though, have been in fantastic form in front of goal thus far this term; indeed, Jurgen Klopp's charges have scored at least three goals in each of their last nine victories in all competitions, while the men from Merseryside have managed more than two goals in six of their last seven fixtures.

Since suffering a chastening 4-1 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur in October, the Reds have gone seven matches without loss and are brimming with belief so it is no surprise that Klopp's charges are chalked up as Betsafe's 53/100 (1.53) favourites to pick up all three points from their trip to the south coast.

Goals, however, have proven to be hard to come by in Brighton's home fixtures so far this season as just two of the eight matches played at Amex Stadium in all competitions have produced more than two goals.

Betsafe go 11/10 (2.10) that the trend for fewer than three goals continues in this clash, while the same firm go 97/20 (5.85) that Brighton keep the free-scoring Reds at bay.

Liverpool's defensive deficiencies have been highlighted often enough this season and Betsafe go 83/100 (1.83) that there are goals at both ends, while the Seagulls are chalked up as a 31/10 (4.10) chance to score more than a single goal; it is worth noting, though, that that particular play would have landed in just three of Brighton's 16 matches so far this season.

It is in attack that Liverpool have been lethal this season as Klopp's team have scored 20 goals in their last seven matches in all competitions and Brighton may well struggle to contain the men from Merseyside on Saturday afternoon.

It is, therefore, Betsafe's 27/20 (2.35) quote for Liverpool (-1) to come out on top in the handicap market that may represent best value for punters ahead of Saturday's showdown on the south coast.
