Liverpool celebrate v Spartak

Liverpool v Everton: Entertaining Merseyside derby in store

After booking their place in the Champions League knockout stages with an emphatic 7-0 victory over Spartak Moscow, Liverpool will be hoping to round off a memorable week on a high when Everton visit Anfield for Sunday's Merseyside derby.

Unbeaten in 14 games against their local rivals, the Reds are available at 1/4 (1.25) with Paddy Power to stretch that run to a record 15 in a row by coming out on top.

However, new boss Sam Allardyce oversaw a 2-1 win with Crystal Palace in his last visit to this ground back in April and is on offer at 10/1 (11.00) to make himself an instant hero by guiding the visitors to a first victory here since 1999.

Three of the hosts' last five league games in front of their own fans have resulted in draws, and you can get odds of 9/2 (5.50) on them being held to another stalemate in this one.

While neutrals may have enjoyed the spectacle, the blue half of Merseyside must have been fairly unnerved at Wednesday's seven-goal romp at Anfield.

That result means Jurgen Klopp's men have scored an impressive 15 goals in the space of a week, having put five past Brighton and three past Stoke in the two previous Premier League games.

With Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho all in sparkling form, it is hard to see the Toffees earning just a second clean sheet in 13 trips across Stanley Park.

However, Allardyce's arrival has certainly given this game a different dynamic, with the veteran manager more than capable of ensuring his players exploit those lingering defensive frailties in the Liverpool defence.

Having scored six goals in two matches since the 63-year-old's appointment was announced, odds of 6/5 (2.50) are well worth backing on an Everton team that has found the net in 11 of the last 13 fixtures helping to ensure over 3.5 goals are scored for the fourth derby in five at Anfield.
