- Messi on the scoresheet yet again
- Miami through to Leagues Cup final
- Argentine is now third-highest scorer in Miami history
WHAT HAPPENED? Inter Miami have advanced to the 2023 Leagues Cup final after their 4-1 pummelling of Philadelphia Union on Tuesday evening, with Lionel Messi having scored the ninth goal of his Inter Miami career to move him up to joint third in the club's all-time scoring charts.
THE BIGGER PICTURE: Messi has completely turned Miami's fortunes around since he joined the club from Paris Saint-Germain, with Tata Martino's side now on a six-game winning streak - including the penalty shoot-out win over FC Dallas - with their Argentine captain in the team. Indeed, he's already third on his side's all-time scoring list, alongside Josef Martinez and Robert Taylor.
AND WHAT'S MORE: Ahead of Messi in second is Leonardo Campana, with 16 goals, while the ex-Barcelona forward's former Argentina team-mate Gonzalo Higuain is at the top of the pile, having scored 29 goals for Inter Miami since they were founded in 2018.
