The Europa League has drawn more attention than normal this year due to the likes of Arsenal, Atletico Madrid and AC Milan featuring, even if the latter are no longer in the competition.
Both the other sides, however, effectively punched their tickets into the semi-finals as the Gunners recorded a 4-1 win over CSKA Moscow in the first leg of the quarter-finals on Thursday, whilst Atleti beat Sporting CP 2-0.
One side to keep a look out for, however, are Red Bull Salzburg, who currently sit at 25/1 (26.0) with dabblebet to lift the trophy for the first time in their history.
dabblebetThe Austrian side lost 4-2 at Lazio, who are 6/1 (7.0) in the same market, on Thursday evening, which was their first competitive loss since August 2017 – some 35 matches ago.
Salzburg surprise
You have to go all the way back to November 2016 to find their last home defeat though, adding fuel to the fire of belief that they can overturn their loss in Italy’s capital.
Whilst a 2-0 (12/1 with dabblebet) victory for the hosts will be enough thanks to away goals, the Bundesliga champions have found the net 21 times in their last seven at home and will be confident of hitting the net more than enough times.
Lazio, meanwhile, won nine away matches to start their season – including a 2-1 success at Juventus – but since the end of October, the Biancocelesti have claimed just four road victories in 13 games.
Atleti the team to fear
Of course, Atletico are the team to fear at 11/10 (2.10) in the outright betting, which hardly comes as a surprise considering they have scored 15 and conceded just twice in the Europa League this season.
Arsenal look an interesting bet at 5/2 (3.50) and should be in the hat for the semi-final draw after demolishing CSKA, who are now 100/1 (101.0).
This tournament represents the Gunners’ last chance of playing Champions League football next term as they sit 13 points outside of the Premier League top four.
The semi-finals, or indeed the final, could see a battle between Red Bull sides after RB Leipzig edged Marseille out 1-0 at home in the first leg. The German side are 7/1 (8.0) whilst Rudi Garcia’s charges find themselves out at 16/1 (17.0).
