Copa del Rey Betting: Barcelona favourites to lift trophy for fifth consecutive year

Barcelona are 11/10 (2.10) favourites to win the Copa del Rey for the fifth year in a row ahead of their quarter-final clash with Sevilla.

No team has ever won the trophy five times in a row, with both Real Madrid and Athletic Club also having also lifted it on four consecutive occasions, and winning the tournament this year would increase Barca’s Copa del Rey haul to 31.

Ernesto Valverde’s men travel to Sevilla – 11/1 (12.0) in the outright market - on Wednesday night as slight 6/4 (2.50)favourites to win the first leg, but the reigning champions are just 20/59 (1.34) to make the semi-finals.

It has been nine years since Barcelona last failed to at least make the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey when they lost on away goals to Sevilla in the last 16, although the Blaugrana have beaten them in two of the last three finals.

Ahead of their two-legged quarter-final with Girona, Real Madrid are 9/5 (2.80) second favourites with SportPesa to lift the trophy for the 20th time in their history.

Los Blancos were the last team to win the Copa del Rey before Barcelona’s current dominance and are just 2/9 (1.22) to qualify for the last four.

A reflection of the task in front of them, Girona can be backed at 66/1 (67.0) to win the tournament for the first time in their history.

Valencia are 14/1 (15.0) but face an uphill struggle to make the semi-finals after they lost the first leg of their quarter-final 1-0 at Getafe, who are out at 30/1 (31.0) despite that result.

One of Real Betis and Espanyol will be in the hat for the last four but SportPesa do not expect much from them, pricing Betis at 22/1 (23.0) and their opponents at 25/1 (26.0).

Those two sides actually won back-to-back cups between them relatively recently, with Betis lifting the trophy for just the second time in 2005 whilst Espanyol claiming their fourth title a year later.
