Betting Tips for Today: Borussia Dortmund set to claim exciting victory over Monaco

Borussia Dortmund welcome struggling Monaco to Westfalenstadion for a crucial Champions League clash on Wednesday evening.

The pair have experienced contrasting fortunes this season, with Lucien Favre’s outfit currently top of the Bundesliga with a stunning 19 goals to their name after just five matches.

Monaco, meanwhile, sit 18th in Ligue 1 after claiming just one win in eight games, losing five out of their last seven matches in all competitions and without a Champions League win since April 2017.

It is little surprise, therefore, that Dortmund are clear 4/11 (1.36) favourites with 888Sport, whilst the draw is 22/5 (5.40) and the visitors can be backed at 15/2 (8.50).

The obvious play here would be betting on the hosts to win but their price is too short even for most accumulators, let alone a single bet. There may, however, be some value in adding goals to that bet.

Dortmund to win and both teams to score is available at 7/4 (2.75) and looks a solid way to back them considering it would have paid out in three of their four league wins this season.

Just once in their last 12 games have Borussia failed to score and they recently put seven past Nurnberg, led by the efforts of Marco Reus and ex-Manchester City youngster Jadon Sancho.

Sancho has five assists this season whilst Reus boasts four goals and Monaco surely have little chance of stopping such a potent attack from netting multiple times.

The Ligue 1 side have kept only one clean sheet in nine games this term, although crucially for this bet, they have managed to score in six of those matches and will back themselves to do so again in Germany.

Although Monaco have failed to win any of their last nine matches in the Champions League – losing seven – this bet would have landed in five of those including their most recent three.

With that in mind, the 7/4 (2.75) on Dortmund to win and both teams to score looks a solid way to back the favourites and put themselves well on the way to the knockout stages of the competition.
