Montpellier v Monaco Betting: Oppose Jardim's odds on favourites as they face a tough trip

Monaco moved three points clear at the top of the Ligue 1 table with a hugely impressive 3-0 win against fellow high-flyers Nice on Saturday.

Leonardo Jardim’s men have been beaten in just one of their last 14 league matches and the Ligue 1 leaders will be determined to maintain momentum when they make the trip to take on Montpellier.

The visitors are brimming with belief and they are chalked up as Betway’s 17/20 (1.85) favourites to take maximum points from this match, while the same firm offer 3/1 (4.0) that Jardim’s side are forced to settle for a share of the spoils.

Jean-Louis Gasset’s side, however, will certainly provide a stern test, for Montpellier have a hugely impressive home record this term; indeed, the hosts have lost just one of their 11 Ligue 1 matches on home soil so far this season, with their latest victory coming against Bastia at the weekend.

Montpellier are available at 14/5 (2.80) with Betway to take all three points from this tussle and that selection may well prove popular with punters, for Gasset’s charges have taken full points from three of their last four home matches – including thumping wins against both Paris Saint-Germain and Bordeaux in December.

There is plenty of potential for goals when these two teams lock horns, as Monaco have scored more than two goals in each of the last five league matches that they have won on the road, while Montpellier have failed to find the net in just two of their 11 matches on home soil so far this season.

As such, it is no surprise that the odds compilers offer just 8/13 (1.62) that there are goals at both ends, while the same firm go 13/20 (1.65) that there are more than two goals scored when this rivalry is renewed.

Monaco have enjoyed great success so far this season, both in domestic and European competition, but Jardim’s men will need to be at their best if they are come out on top in this match. Montpellier have a superb record on home soil and Gasset’s team appear to have been underrated by the odds compilers here.

The hosts have come out on top in five of their last seven home fixtures, conceding more than a single goal in just one of their 11 matches at Stade de la Mosson thus far this term, and Gasset’s charges will certainly provide stubborn opposition against Jardim’s team.

Betway’s 19/20 (1.95) quote, therefore, for Montpellier in the double chance market offers outstanding value for punters ahead of Tuesday’s tussle.
