Betting: 80/1 bet lands as Paris Saint-Germain record 9-0 win in weekend of few upsets

It was a weekend of few shocks across Europe, with France the place to look at for big winners – including an 80/1 (81.0) shot in the capital.

Paris Saint-Germain were just 1/20 (1.05) with William Hill to beat bottom side Guingamp at home and duly romped to a 9-0 victory, priced at 80/1 (81.0) pre-match.

Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappe each scored a hat-trick whilst fellow strike partner Neymar added two more, with Thomas Meunier rounding out the scoring seven minutes from time.

The biggest win in the 1X2 market saw 18/5 (4.60) Strasbourg claim a surprise 5-1 at struggling Monaco, although they were helped out by Naldo’s 5th minute red card for a last man foul.

The Premier League was a different story as almost every odds on favourite claimed victory, with four of the five such sides taking the points.

Only Watford failed to capitalise on being shorter than Even money (2.0), with the Hornets drawing 0-0 at home to Burnley despite being just 7/10 (1.70) with William Hill.

An accumulator on the other four odds on sides - Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham - all claiming victory would have paid out at around 19/10 (2.90).

It was business as usual in Spain where there were victories for Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, while Villarreal and Athletic Club shared a draw at odds of 11/5 (3.20).

All six odds on teams won though, albeit only just as Sergio Canales’ 94th minute penalty led 13/20 (1.65) Real Betis past Girona, and an acca of the sextet would have come out at a solid 19/1 (20.0).

The longest odds upset in Germany saw 29/10 (3.90) Borussia Monchengladbach claim a surprise 1-0 win at Bayer Leverkusen, although their third-place position in Bundesliga suggests that is maybe not as big of an upset as the odds did.
