Barcelona vs Liverpool Betting Tips: Latest odds, team news, preview and predictions

Visiting the Camp Nou is always a daunting task for any side and Liverpool travel to Catalonia this week to face a Barcelona team with an imperious home record in European competition.

Ernesto Valverde's men go into Wednesday night's Champions League semi-final first leg having lost just one home game in the competition in the last ten years.

Liverpool, however, do not need to win in Spain to record a good result. The Merseysiders would surely be delighted with a score draw, while even a defeat by a solitary goal would give them hope ahead of the second leg at Anfield.

Latest odds

The Catalans were crowned champions of Spain on Saturday night with a 1-0 home win over Levante and bet365 offer another triumph for Barca at 17/20 (1.85).

Liverpool, though, have won their last 10 games. While they lost all three away matches in the group stages, they triumphed in both of the away legs in their previous two knockout ties. Jurgen Klopp's side can be backed at 10/3 (4.33) with the draw 29/10 (3.90).

Team news

The Blaugrana have no major injury concerns and Valverde is likely to have to chose between fielding former Liverpool man Philippe Coutinho or Ousmane Dembele, both of whom are available.

Liverpool have concerns over Roberto Firmino, who missed the Friday night win over Huddersfield, although the club hope to have him back for Wednesday. Fabinho also missed Friday's game, but could return as well at the Camp Nou.

Preview

Despite being the first leg of a Champions League semi-final, Wednesday's game is unlikely to be a cagey affair. Liverpool are in stunning scoring form with 29 goals in their last 10 games, and in the previous rounds they scored three times in Munich and four times in Porto.

Barcelona are favourites and rightly so, but we should not expect the hosts to dominate the game entirely and there will surely be chances for the visitors.

Manchester United were on the wrong end of a 3-0 defeat in the previous round at Camp Nou, but the Premier League outfit still managed to hit the woodwork, while Barca's previous two European home games saw Lyon and Spurs both score.

The likes of Huesca, Leganes, Girona and Rayo Vallecano (all sides in La Liga's bottom six) have managed to score at Camp Nou and there is every chance that Liverpool are able to grab what could be a valuable away goal.

Tips and predictions

Over 2.5 goals and both teams to score is priced at 9/10 (1.90) and this seems like an excellent option. While first legs of knockout ties can often see teams approach the game in cautious fashion, backing a high scoring game can still prove profitable.

This selection paid out in the first legs of both semi-finals in last season's Champions League and with two such prolific sides meeting this Wednesday, it could provide us with some profit once more.
