    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Eriksson has revealed that one of his biggest regrets is missing out on the opportunity to coach Liverpool. That situation may be about to change, with it reported that he could be handed the Reds’ reins for a Legends tie with Ajax in March.

  • WHAT ERIKSSON SAID

Eriksson has told Good Morning Britain when asked about that potential opening: “I didn’t know that, I knew that they have a charity game in March I think it is and my son… I’m invited to see that game and that would be great because there will be a lot of great footballers there but I should be their manager? No, I’ve never heard that.”

    DID YOU KNOW?

Quizzed on whether he would accept any offer from Liverpool, Eriksson added: “I would accept of course! That’s always been my dream but like a dream, I’m not complaining, I’ve had a lot of good football teams - national teams and the clubs so I’m happy.”

  • WHAT NEXT?

Eriksson spent five years working with England’s so-called ‘Golden Generation’ between 2001 and 2006. He has worked in club football at Manchester City and Leicester, while a long and distinguished CV also includes spells in charge of Benfica, Roma, Sampdoria, Lazio, Mexico, Ivory Coast and Shanghai SIPG.
