  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Blitzer has owned RSL since 2022, when he bought the franchise from Dell Loy Hansen for around $400 million. He brought the NWSL to Utah, setting up the Royals in 2024. He will cede majority control of both as part of the deal.

  • WHAT DON GARBER SAID

MLS Commissioner Don Garber expressed his happiness with the transaction in a release: "The future of Real Salt Lake is in great hands with the Miller organization and David Blitzer. The Millers have a long-standing commitment to community, youth sports, and sound business operations, and we have a proven history with David, one of the most accomplished sports owners in the world. Together, this group is perfectly positioned to strengthen the club and grow soccer in Utah and the region."
