Man City and Man Utd on alert as Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa ready for summer move as Premier League giants eye €60m star as Ederson and Andre Onana replacement

Costa has communicated to his inner circle about his desire to move abroad and try his luck, according to Portuguese outlet A Bola.

The goalkeeper has a €75 million (£64m/$87m) release clause but could go for €60m (£51m/$69m), the report adds. City would like Costa to replace Ederson, who has offers from Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, United have him on their list of options to succeed Andre Onana, who has lost faith of his coach Ruben Amorim.

The Portuguese keepers’ talent was on full display for the world when Portugal won the Nations league final against Spain, winning 5-3 in a penalty shootout. The 25-year-old came through the Primeira Liga's youth academy and has two years left on his contract.

Costa could not take part in any of Porto’s group games at the Club World Cup owing to an adductor injury, but the keeper will be available in the latter stages of the tournament. Once the tournament is over he will hope that Porto will start listening to offers for him and fulfil his desire to play for some of the biggest teams in the world.
