Kylian Mbappe visits nightclub in Sweden on same night France team-mates beat Israel as row over skipping international duty rumbles on

The Real Madrid star was excused from international duty after a recent thigh injury left him needing some extra rest. According to Aftonbladet, during France's match against Israel the 25-year-old was seen in the streets of Stockholm with friends, enjoying his time off. Reports suggested he visited the exclusive restaurant Chez Jolie before heading to a nightclub.

Debate about Mbappe's fitness and his role as captain have rumbled on during the international break, but his relationship with manager Didier Deschamps seems to remain intact. The France captain posted a message of support for his team-mates before the match, and in his absence, Mbappe's Madrid teammate Aurelien Tchouameni was named captain.

When asked about Mbappe's absence, Deschamps told reporters: "I have no doubt about Kylian's commitment but he was not in the best condition during the last gathering. He has a problem which is not serious but he needs treatment to recover properly. I am not here to take risks. That is why Kylian is not here."

After getting a rare chance to rest and recover, Mbappe should be firing on all cylinders once he gets back to league action with Real Madrid. The France forward will be hoping he's ready to take to the field for Los Blancos' upcoming fixture against Celta Vigo on October 19.
