  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Mourinho was understandably frustrated after his side lost to rivals Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig at the weekend but eyebrows were raised when the legendary manager did not turn up to his post-match press conference. Now, the former Chelsea and Manchester United boss has fired shots at opposing manager Okan Buruk for making him wait 70 minutes to answer questions from the media.

    WHAT MOURINHO SAID

Speaking ahead of Fenerbahce's Europa League match against Union Saint-Gilloise on Thursday, Mourinho said: "I have never avoided a press conference in my 24-year career. I have never been afraid of journalists and their questions. The coach who plays away goes first, it's normal, to be free. But there are limits! I waited 70 minutes and even after that I couldn't go, because his press conference continued. I can't wait 70, 75 or 80 minutes for a press conference.

"It had nothing to do with the result, just with something that is or is not correct. The same will happen in the next game, I'll go to the flash interview straight after the game, because that's the logic of flash interviews. It's not 20 minutes after the game, it's straight after. Then you wait 15 minutes, half an hour is normal. 70 minutes? Sorry, but that's disrespectful! If anyone felt disrespected, it was me."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Mourinho's frustrations in the media are nothing new to those who have watched the box-office manager over the years. The former Chelsea and Manchester United coach has always been known to speak from his heart and is not afraid of the punishments that come if he crosses a line.

    WHAT NEXT FOR MOURINHO?

The Portuguese tactician will have to pay a fine for not attending his conference at the weekend, but he will gladly part with some pocket change and move his attention straight onto Fenerbahce's Europa League clash.
