Premier League top scorers 2024-25: Mohamed Salah wins the Golden Boot, Alexander Isak finishes second

It was once again Mohamed Salah against the rest of the Premier League—and the Egyptian talisman came out on top. In another campaign packed with goals and drama, Liverpool's main man clinched his fourth Golden Boot, proving he's still head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to finding the back of the net.

Erling Haaland came out of the gates like a runaway train, hitting double digits quicker than anyone in Premier League history. But a mid-season injury slowed City’s goal machine, and Salah took full advantage—pulling away in the scoring charts while also topping the assists leaderboard.

Chasing the two heavyweights were Chris Wood, Alexander Isak, and a host of forwards who enjoyed hot streaks and standout campaigns. Meanwhile, Brentford turned heads by fielding a trio of goal-getters—Bryan Mbeumo (20), Yoane Wissa (19), and Kevin Schade (11)—each cracking double figures in a season to remember for the Bees.

Here’s a full look at the sharp-shooters who lit up the league in the 2024-25 Golden Boot race.

    1Mohamed Salah | Liverpool | 29 goals

Since arriving at Liverpool from Roma in a £36.5 million ($47.15m) transfer, Mohamed Salah has firmly etched his name into Anfield folklore.

The Egyptian star has built an impressive trophy cabinet, securing the Premier League (twice), Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, Club World Cup, FA Cup, and two League Cups during his tenure. This past season, Salah showcased electrifying form, leading the Premier League in both goals and assists.

    2Alexander Isak | Newcastle | 23 goals

Newcastle United face a stalemate in contract discussions with Alexander Isak, fueling concerns that the Swedish forward might consider a move away next summer. Despite the uncertain future, the contract situation hasn’t impacted the striker's performances.

After a season disrupted by early injuries, the Swede international returned to form and consistently found the back of the net with ease, ultimately finishing as the runner-up with 23 goals.

  • Erling Haaland Manchester City 2024-25Getty Images

    3Erling Haaland | Manchester City | 22 goals

There were whispers last season about Erling Haaland's dominance in the Premier League starting to fade as his goal tally dipped, but the Norwegian striker remained lethal.

Tipped as the overwhelming favourite to clinch the 2024-25 Golden Boot, Erling Haaland entered the campaign with sky-high expectations. But a combination of Manchester City's underwhelming run of form and recurring injury setbacks saw the Norwegian goal machine fall short of history.

Haaland was chasing a rare feat — aiming to become just the third player in Premier League history, after Alan Shearer and Thierry Henry, to top the scoring charts in three straight seasons.

  • Chris Wood Nottingham Forest 2022-23Getty

    4Chris Wood | Nottingham Forest | 20 goals

An aerially dominant old-fashioned target-man striker, Wood initially underwent scrutiny from some quarters of the Forest fanbase for not making quite the impact everyone had hoped for since joining from Newcastle - at first on loan, then permanently.

However, the New Zealand international changed the narrative by bagging some crucial goals late in the 2023-24 season and has carried over that form into the 2024-25 campaign as Forest went from the brink of the Championship to sealing European football.

  • Bryan Mbeumo BrentfordGetty

    5Bryan Mbeumo | Brentford | 20 goals

Bryan Mbeumo has lit up the Premier League this season, delivering his finest campaign yet in a Brentford shirt.

The dynamic winger played a starring role as the Bees soared to a commendable tenth-place finish, becoming a constant threat down the flanks. At 25, Mbeumo featured in all 38 league outings and racked up an impressive haul of 20 goals and seven assists, firmly establishing himself as one of the division’s top performers.

  • Yoane Wissa BrentfordGetty Images

    6Yoane Wissa | Brentford | 19 goals

With English striker Ivan Toney out of the door to Saudi Arabia, the onus was on Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa to deliver the goods in the final third for Brentford this past season. Mbeumo has been instrumental in Brentford's success since the West London club's promotion to the Premier League.

However, Wissa started making his mark for Brentford in the last couple of years only. The DR Congo international emerged as a composed finisher on both his right and left, with the ability to take defenders on in one-on-one situations, thanks to his agility and pace to get in behind defenders.

  • Ollie Watkins Aston Villa 2024-25Getty Images Sport

    7Ollie Watkins | Aston Villa | 16 goals

Watkins, Villa's talisman with 19 Premier League goals in the 2023-24 season, continued his fine goal-scoring form from last season, albeit the 29-year-old England international striker faced some dry patches through the campaign.

    8Matheus Cunha | Wolves | 15 goals

A versatile, right-footed forward with the ability to excel both as a central striker and from wide positions, Brazilian attacker Cunha has shown impressive form this season for Wolves despite the team's relegation battle.

Known for his skill in dribbling, positioning, and playmaking between defensive lines, he's been a standout in what has been a challenging campaign for the Molineux side and has earned plenty of interest from big sharks, including Newcastle and Manchester United.

  • Cole Palmer Chelsea BrightonGetty

    9Cole Palmer | Chelsea | 15 goals

Cole Palmer has thrived since his move from his childhood club, Manchester City, to Chelsea. The 22-year-old netted 25 goals across all competitions during an outstanding debut season. Palmer's stellar performances earned him the Premier League Young Player of the Season, PFA Fans' Player of the Year, and PFA Young Player of the Year honors.

Even though the young playmaker has had a tricky second part of the 2024-25 campaign, nobody should forget just how exceptional his form was in the first few months, driving the Blues' to a top-four Premier League finish.

  • Tottenham Hotspur FC v Crystal Palace FC - Premier LeagueGetty Images Sport

    10Jean-Philippe Mateta | Crystal Palace | 14 goals

In recent seasons, Crystal Palace have shown a talent for recruiting forwards who, at their peak, possess the physical prowess and technical skills to elevate any team. They can be a nightmare for defenders with their clever movement and lethal finishing but lack consistency.

For much of his time at the club, Jean-Philippe Mateta seemed to fit that same mold—capable of producing moments of brilliance but often vanishing in games. However, the arrival of Oliver Glasner as head coach has breathed new life into the Frenchman's career. Mateta has cemented his place as the focal point of Palace's attack, making that elusive striker role his own this past season.

    11Jørgen Strand Larsen | Wolves | 14 goals

Jørgen Strand Larsen’s debut season at Wolves was never expected to be smooth sailing — but even so, it turned out to be a rockier ride than many had forecast, with the team underperforming for much of the campaign.

Yet, in a year dominated by the grind of a relegation scrap — one that Wolves ultimately pulled away from comfortably following Vítor Pereira’s arrival — the Norwegian striker has offered a rare glimmer of genuine promise.

Snapped up from Celta Vigo for a reported £26 million last summer, Strand Larsen arrived to plug a glaring hole: a traditional number nine.

  • luis diaz(C)Getty Images

    12Luis Diaz | Liverpool | 13 goals

Luis Diaz's future at Anfield hangs in the balance ahead of the new campaign. The Colombian winger has been heavily tipped for a summer departure, and with Florian Wirtz reportedly on the verge of joining, speculation around his exit has only intensified.

Despite the uncertainty, the £50 million man has just wrapped up a standout season, and there's still a real possibility he remains part of the Reds’ plans when the new term kicks off. Whether the club cashes in or keeps him in the fold remains one of the more intriguing subplots of the transfer window.

  • Manchester United FC v West Ham United FC - Premier LeagueGetty Images Sport

    13Jarrod Bowen | West Ham | 13 goals

Electrifying winger Jarrod Bowen has been instrumental for West Ham once again this past season, regardless of whether it was under the tutelage of Julen Lopetegui earlier in the campaign or now with Graham Potter in charge.

  • Newcastle United FC v AFC Bournemouth - Premier LeagueGetty Images Sport

    14Justin Kluivert | Bournemouth | 12 goals

Justin Kluivert could be among the high-profile names heading for the exit at the Vitality Stadium this summer, with his camp reportedly exploring options away from Bournemouth.

The Dutch forward has enjoyed a standout campaign, finishing as the Cherries’ leading marksman with 12 Premier League goals, two of which came in the form of hat-tricks.

Kluivert's sharp eye for goal played a key role in propelling Bournemouth to their highest-ever points total in the top flight.

  • West Ham United FC v Ipswich Town FC - Premier LeagueGetty Images Sport

    15Liam Delap | Ipswich | 12 goals

Despite Ipswich Town's drop back to the Championship, Liam Delap was a constant thorn in the side of opposition defenders, finishing the season with an impressive return of 12 goals from 37 appearances.

With a £30 million (€36m / $41m) relegation release clause written into his contract, the young striker has become a tempting option for top-flight clubs looking to bolster their attack without blowing the bank. For Premier League sides navigating tight financial waters, Delap offers both value and potential in one tidy package.

  • Raul Jimenez Fulham Arsenal 2024-25Getty

    16Raul Jimenez | Wolves | 12 goals

Jimenez's long-term Fulham future is up in the air, though he is out of contract at the end of the season, but that hasn't distracted the Mexico international's output as he continues to slip under the radar for his consistent performances in front of goal.

    17Brennan Johnson | Tottenham | 11 goals

Johnson's time at Spurs has been far from smooth sailing. Despite showing flashes of brilliance, including an impressive tally of 10 Premier League assists last season—a figure surpassed by only two players—many supporters have zeroed in on his shortcomings and missed opportunities. A sluggish beginning to the 2024-25 campaign saw criticism intensify, eventually pushing him to his breaking point.

Since stepping away from social media, however, Johnson has rediscovered his confidence and hit a purple patch of form. He brings a unique style to the modern winger role, playing on his preferred side as a right-footed player operating on the right flank—a rarity in today's game.

  • Brighton & Hove Albion v Tottenham Hotspur - Premier LeagueGetty Images Sport

    18Joao Pedro | Brighton | 10 goals

Joao Pedro brings a well-rounded skill set to the pitch—industrious, inventive, and composed when it counts. The Brazilian forward has thrived under Fabian Hurzeler, who’s deployed him across several attacking roles at Brighton. Whether spearheading the front line or operating just off the striker, Pedro adapts seamlessly.

In Hürzeler’s fluid, position-swapping system, leading the line suits Pedro to a tee. He’s equally adept at drifting into pockets of space, linking play from deep, or peeling wide to keep the ball moving and carve open defenses.

  • Nicolas Jackson Chelsea Crystal PalaceGetty Images

    19Nicolas Jackson | Chelsea | 10 goals

After bursting onto the scene as one of Europe's most thrilling attacking prospects during his breakout campaign at Villarreal in 2022-23, Nicolas Jackson made the switch to the Blues in a £32 million transfer last summer.

Though the Senegalese striker had his ups and downs throughout the season, he still managed to notch an impressive 14 goals in his debut Premier League season. He'll be aiming to surpass that tally this time around.

  • Arsenal FC v Brighton & Hove Albion FC - Premier LeagueGetty Images Sport

    20Kai Havertz | Arsenal | 9 goals

Arsenal paid a whopping £65 million ($85m) pounds to sign Kai Havertz in the summer of 2023, which was largely considered a poor deal at the time. However, he is slowly starting to prove that Mikel Arteta and co. were right to take an expensive gamble on him.

  • Tottenham Hotspur FC v Fulham FC - Premier LeagueGetty Images Sport

    21James Maddison | Tottenham | 9 goals

There's no denying James Maddison's flair as a creative force in midfield. Known for his ingenuity with the ball and an eye for goal—exemplified by his two-goal performance at the Etihad—the playmaker has showcased his attacking prowess. However, in the past, Maddison has been seen as somewhat of a luxury player for Tottenham, occasionally lacking the defensive grit required for Ange Postecoglou's high-intensity system.

This season, though, the Englishman has proven his worth on both ends of the pitch. If Spurs can fully reintegrate the £40m signing from Leicester City into their setup, it could propel the North London club to new heights.

  • 22Harvey Barnes | Newcastle | 9 goals

Signed from Leicester City for £38 million in 2023, Harvey Barnes has struggled to cement a regular spot in Newcastle’s starting XI this season. Yet, when given the opportunity, the winger has made his presence felt—chipping in with goals and assists in the Premier League and proving he can be a difference-maker off the bench.

  • FBL-ENG-PR-LIVERPOOL-IPSWICHAFP

    23Cody Gakpo | Liverpool | 9 goals

Cody Gakpo has emerged as a pivotal player for Liverpool, delivering vital goals in clutch moments. This season, the Dutchman has experienced a positional shift under the guidance of Arne Slot, showcasing his adaptability and influence on the pitch. This season, under Slot's guidance, he has truly flourished after being reinstated in his preferred left-wing role, having previously been shifted across the front three during his time under Jurgen Klopp.

  • Leicester City FC v Manchester United FC - Premier LeagueGetty Images Sport

    24Bruno Fernandes | Manchester United | 8 goals

Bruno Fernandes has been among the Premier League's standout performers over the past decade, consistently producing top-class displays for Manchester United since arriving from Sporting CP. The Portuguese playmaker has been a rare bright spark this season, but with the club struggling for consistency, the prospect of securing major silverware remains out of reach.

  • Jhon Duran Aston VillaGetty Images

    25Jhon Duran | Aston Villa | 7 goals

Aston Villa forward Duran was the subject of intense transfer rumors involving West Ham throughout the summer, but rather than distracting him, the speculation appears to have fueled his impressive early-season form.

  • Tottenham Hotspur FC v Newcastle United FC - Premier LeagueGetty Images Sport

    26Dominic Solanke | Tottenham | 7 goals

Solanke is Tottenham's first-choice striker following his big-money move from Bournemouth ahead of the season and the former Chelsea youngster is doing a fine job living up to the high expectations.

It might not be a great campaign for Spurs, but the towering attacker is a rare bright light for Ange Postecoglou.
