Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has warned his team-mates that their current defensive form is "not sustainable" following a disappointing 3-2 defeat to Fenerbahce. The Reds surrendered a late lead in Istanbul, conceding three times from set-pieces to mark a historically poor run in European competition.
Liverpool sensation Trey Nyoni has challenged his teammates to show their true character against Crystal Palace this weekend following a frustrating European night in Istanbul. The teenager made history by becoming the club's second-youngest goalscorer in the Champions League, but his personal milestone was overshadowed by a late collapse against Fenerbahce.
Crystal Palace have appealed against the straight red card Jean-Philippe Mateta received in Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Tottenham. The France international faces a three-match ban for his studs-up challenge on Micky van de Ven, and losing him now would be a fresh blow for under-pressure Eagles boss Pierre Sage, with Liverpool visiting Selhurst Park on Sunday.
