LIVERPOOL TRIED TO SIGN €100M MULLER
Liverpool were willing to sell Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona and had lined up Thomas Muller as his replacement, claims Bild.
The Reds were open to spending €100 million on the Bayern Munich forward, using the cash they were hoping to receive from Barcelona for Philippe Coutinho.
The report claims that the Bundesliga club's reluctance to sell scuppered any move, however, with the Reds consequently stopping Coutinho from heading to Spain.
MILAN WANT JANUARY PELLEGRI DEAL
AC Milan want to beat Chelsea and Manchester United to the signing of Genoa starlet Pietro Pellegri by agreeing a January deal, according to Calciomercato.com .
Pellegri has been a long-term target for Milan and, after the 16-year-old striker created Serie A history by scoring twice at the weekend, they want to sign him in the New Year and then let him spend the rest of the season on loan at Genoa.
RONALDO TELLS MADRID TO SIGN MAN UTD WONDERKID
Cristiano Ronaldo has advised Real Madrid to beat arch-rivals Barcelona to the signing of Manchester United teenager Angel Gomes, claims Don Balon .
Gomes has yet to sign his first professional contract with United and could leave Old Trafford for a nominal fee next summer, with Ronaldo reportedly telling Madrid president Florentino Perez that the European champions should sign the 17-year-old attacker.
MOURINHO PLOTS ALEXIS OFFER
Jose Mourinho is planning an offer for Alexis Sanchez in a bid to convince him to join Manchester United, according to The Sun .
The Arsenal forward is out of contract next summer, and Manchester City are the favourites to sign him after failing in a last-gasp £60 million move on deadline day.
But Mourinho is hopeful the offer of a £25m signing-on fee will tempt the Chile international to Old Trafford.
BARCA WANTED ATLETICO DUO
Barcelona wanted to sign Atletico Madrid duo Saul Niguez and Antoine Griezmann in the summer, but were put off by their price tags, reports El Transistor on Onda Cero, via Sport .
Niguez’s release clause of €80 million was something Barca were prepared to pay, but they baulked at spending €150m when the figure increased after the midfielder signed a new contract.
It was a similar situation with Griezmann as Barca were only prepared to offer €140m for the French attacker, whose release clause rose to €200m.
MAN UTD WATCH ROMA MIDFIELDER
Manchester United are tracking the progress of Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini in addition to his team-mate Radja Nainggolan, according to Corriere dello Sport .
Jose Mourinho reportedly sent one of his favoured scouts to watch Roma’s game against Verona last weekend and the €30 million-rated Pellegrini impressed.
GIMENEZ TO SIGN NEW ATLETICO DEAL
Atletico Madrid defender Jose Maria Gimenez is set to disappoint his suitors by signing a new contract at the club, claims Calciomercato.com .
Gimenez’s current deal expires at the end of the season, and he had previously been a target for Juventus and Manchester United, but the 22-year-old is ready to commit to fresh terms which will include a release clause in the region of €60 million.
PSG COACH EMERY UNDER PRESSURE
Paris Saint-Germain coach Unai Emery must reach the Champions League semi-finals this season if he wants to stay in his job, according to L'Equipe .
A one-year extension will be triggered if Emery leads PSG to the last four in Europe, but if he fails to attain that target, the club will not look to agree a new deal.
Sporting director Antero Henrique has already been eyeing up potential replacements for Emery, with Jorge Jesus and Andre Villas-Boas being considered.
MADRID MOVE ON FROM DE GEA

Guardiola reportedly sent scouts to monitor Lewandowski this past weekend as he scored twice in a 4-0 win against Mainz, and City could benefit from the former Bayern manager's rapport with the Poland international.
SPURS JOIN TOSUN RACE
Tottenham have joined the race to sign Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun, The Daily Mail reports.
The Turkish side reportedly want £17.5 million for the 26-year-old, who also has drawn interest from Crystal Palace and Newcastle. That price represents an increase from the £12m Besiktas would have accepted before Tosun's strong start to the 2017-18 campaign.
WILSHERE WANTS WEST HAM MOVE

Costa is currently in exile at Chelsea after being told he is not in Antonio Conte’s plans and the Spain international only has eyes for a return to Atletico.
A deal has yet to be reached, but Atletico are hoping a club record bid of €55m, with a further €10m due in bonuses, will finally persuade Chelsea to sell Costa.
